Dr. Chad Graves
Registered Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Chad Graves received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manitoba and completed his clinical internship training at the Student Counselling Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He employs an integrative approach to psychotherapy, combing elements from Client-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Narrative, and Gottman psychotherapy. He also incorporates the principles of Ericksonian philosophy into his work. Dr, Graves applies techniques from these various models of psychology in a flexible, tailored manner depending on his client’s needs and preferences. In working with his clients, he adopts a strength based, solution focus with an emphasis on strengthening the client’s self-efficacy and evoking their empowerment over their lives. He views psychotherapy as a collaborative process whereby his clients are the expert of their own experience and are coached to take an action state that evokes a sense of intentional control. His clinical background comprises of a diverse mix of assessment (psychodiagnostic, learning disorders, couple, career) and treatment working with diverse populations in community, hospital, university, and primary care mental health settings.
Dr. Graves has extensive training and experience providing services to adults & adolescents across different modalities of psychotherapy(individual, group, couple). He provides specialized treatment for a board spectrum of diagnostic issues, including difficulties with depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma; as well as concerns related to emotional regulation, identity, grief, martial discord, and career indecision.
